英语中有些词无论在拼写上还是用法上非常相似，学生经常出现混用。例如:
desert 既可以做名词也可以做动词，而且在拼写上又容易记成dessert, 所以老师要把这样的词重点进行对比讲解。

1). costume “衣服，礼服”，尤其指演员或表演者的戏服、某国或某历史时期的服装。

2). custom 的意思是“习惯，风俗物业经理人，传统”，一般为不可数名词。
Chinese culture and custom 中国的文化和习俗
The tour guide offers information on local custom.
这个导游介绍了当地的风俗习惯。
Eating dumplings is the custom for the Spring festival.
春节吃饺子是一种习俗。
句型：It's the custom (for sb) to do sth 表示“对某人来说做某事是一种习俗/ 习惯”
如: It's the custom for us to prepare red packets for kids during the Spring Festival.在春节期间给小孩准备红包是我们的传统习俗。
It is the custom to take some fruits when visiting a patient in hospital.
去医院看望病人的时候带些水果，是一个习惯。
3). 在custom后面加s就变成了customs，意思是“海关”：
customs officers 海关官员
You won't be able to take that through customs.你带着那个东西是过不了海关的。
The U.S. customs officers will ask you a lot of questions in English.美国海关官员会用英文问你很多问题。
4). 在custom后面加er就变成了customer “顾客”的意思，如：
We should respect every customer .我们要尊重每一位顾客。
Customers are waiting to pay for their products.
